Jam-Packed Day!

I am so in love with this! It is called Nativity in ABC's by Marilynn and Jackie's Collection. Stitching Bits and Bobs is having a pre-halloween sale and they have it. It is soooo tempting to order it! And a few other new designs too!

All those things I wanted to accomplish yesterday didn't happen. I did do a little laundry, but I was exhausted from the conferences and took a lot of naps yesterday. I have never slept like that. Hannah and I went to my parents' house for dinner and I fell asleep in the chair after dinner. Then we came home and I fell asleep on the couch here. I even slept the whole night through.

So today I am going to do all of the things I didn't get done yesterday. Hannah and Van are going to work on her volcano project this morning. I will run the errands I need to do and work on laundry. This afternoon I will take Hannah out and get her halloween costume (she is invited to a halloween party next Friday) and she is in need of some new shoes and clothes.

Day off!

Sixteen hours at school for parent teacher conferences means an extra weekend day - no school today. I had a couple of really rough ones, and two who NEVER showed up and then emailed that they wanted to reschedule after I waited for them. I ended up doing one through my breakfast time since they showed up late and then had to eat my breakfast 2 hours later when I finally had a break again. I had DH go and talk to Hannah's teachers. She is such an underachiever compared to Van and I. I still have 8 conferences to do next week.

After conferences we all went to a bar and unwound. We were a pretty loud and obnoxious bunch, but it was fun to talk with everyone. I had a couple of rum and cokes and the most yummy hot wings and nachos (we all shared a bunch of appetizers). I got home at 1 AM. I never stay out that late. I woke up at 4:30 AM thinking I was going to go run, but promptly fell back to sleep. But the dogs woke me up at 6:50 wanting to go outside and have breakfast. So here I sit.

Plans for today include cleaning and laundry. I also need to work on a few projects. I should probably grade papers too. Hannah has this volcano project due Monday so I need to figure that out with her. She wants to do this bundt cake think. Maybe we will rent a movie tonight and have a mommy daughter bonding night.

Longgggggggggggg day!

Today is going to be a 16 hour day. I have 36 conferences (I have 22 in my homeroom) but I teach math to 65. The thing that confuses me though, is I am meeting with kiddos are who doing great in math. I am dreading the day. But I do get a 3 day weekend.

I am the head of Student Council. We are having a babysitting room and bake sale. The problem is that I have back to back solid conferences and can't make sure it is all running smoothly. I am kind of freaking about that - more the babysitting room than the bake sale. I do have some good kiddos in charge of it, I just fret that there won't be enough of them.

Afterwards, we are talking about going to Clancy's Bar and partaking in Karokee and relaxing. Should be interesting.

Tomorrow night and Saturday I am stitching on my RR so I can get the in the mail Monday. I also have to bake a cake so that Hannah and DH can turn it into a volcano for a school project.

My hand feels a lot better since I got the right brace. A couple of my fingers still hurt, but overall it is much better than it was when I went to the ER.

No gym for me today, I need to get to school early and put my room back together. I have religious ed in my room on Wednesday evenings, and they never put it back together. It is always a mess after they get done with it. The RE director is not easy to work with and does not believe us when I tell her what happens in my room. I try to hide things, but they go through my desk.

ER Visit - the nightmare!

I went to the emergency room last night because my wrist and fingers hurt so much, I can barely stand it. Interesting experience! The doctor told me it was broken, I asked how he knew since I hadn't had any x-rays yet. He got a perplexed look on his face and left for a moment. Then he came back and said that would happen right away. So they took the x-rays and then told he came back and told me it wasn't broken afterall. This is the same hospital that last year told me Hannah's wasn't broken and then called the next day and said it was. The nurse put me in a brace. It is really uncomfortable and hurts more with it than without it. Well it turns out he put a left hand brace on my right hand. So I called the ER this morning and told them my story. The nurse was shocked that would happen so back to the ER I went. I had to wait a little while after I got there, and then I had to go back up to the registration desk and explain my story again. About 2 minutes after I did that, I exchanged the brace for a right hand one, instantly it felt better. I haven't received a call to tell me they made a mistake with the x-ray, but if it doesn't feel better by Tuesday, I am going to see my regular doctor. I don't think I will be going back to that ER anytime soon...

Pure Nerd...

Your result for The Nerd? Geek? or Dork? Test...

Pure Nerd

52 % Nerd, 30% Geek, 30% Dork

For The Record:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.

A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.

A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.

You scored better than half in Nerd, earning you the title of: Pure Nerd.

The times, they are a-changing. It used to be that being exceptionally smart led to being unpopular, which would ultimately lead to picking up all of the traits and tendences associated with the "dork." No-longer. Being smart isn't as socially crippling as it once was, and even more so as you get older: eventually being a Pure Nerd will likely be replaced with the following label: Purely Successful.

Congratulations!

I've been tagged...

Jennifer of Sweet Pea Stitches tagged me to share six random things about myself, following the rules below:
Link to the person who tagged you.
Post the rules on your blog.
Write six random things/unspectacular quirks about yourself.
Tag six people at the end of your post and link to them.
Let each person you have tagged know by leaving a comment on their blog.
Let the tagger know when your entry is posted. I've done a couple of these before, so I will try to come up with different things.
  1. I love books! All kinds of books. I buy books. I checkout books. I roam bookstores. My favorite "game" is what I call the library game. I go and look at the new releases and then go to my public library site and see if I can request the book.
  2. I collect recipes and cookbooks. I check out a lot of cookbooks and then I want to own the cookbooks.
  3. I think in a past life I must have lived where food was scarce. I hoard food in my pantry and three freezers. I always buy replacement pantry items in even numbers - 2 or 4. Though it does go along with my second quirk:)
  4. Since I am admitting to food hoarding, I might as well admit to floss hoarding. When Walmart was selling their floss off, I bought large amounts - bags full. Yet, I still manage to go to Michaels and buy floss there too.
  5. Since our trash collection started paying us for recyclables, I have become the biggest recycler in the neighborhood. Every two weeks, our bin is overflowing with it. It's amazing what can be recycled.
  6. I have secretly taken the towels out of the dirty clothes hamper and folded them up and placed them back on the shelf. DH uses the towel once and in it goes. This drives me crazy. Just because you used it once, doesn't mean it needs to be washed.
And now I tag anyone who would like to do this!

And down went the 8th graders!

For the first time in 4 years, the teachers were victorious in the annual 8th grade vs. teachers kickball game! We won by two points! It was awesome. It did help that we have lots of men on staff this year, but just a wee bit (evil laugh)!

Survival of the fittest!

I have a treadmill that I use every morning at the gym. It has been mine since I started going at 5 AM. Until last week when eliptical guy decided to snag it from me. I know he knows it is my treadmill. Afterall, we (the treadmill and I) have bonded after almost 9 weeks of running. I was sick on Friday, so I didn't get the chance to reclaim it from him. Today I got to the parking lot a little before 5 and who do I see in the parking lot, eliptical guy. I quickly raced for the door, and he was right behind me, breathing heavy. I scanned my card, hit the stairs at a brisk (frantically running) pace, grabbed my towel, and cheerfully high fived my treadmill. I'm back baby, too bad for you elipitcal guy. Eliptical guy had to settle for the second rate treadmill today. a

I should wear a sign that says head back to the elipticals!

School, birthday, Vegas, and Sickness

School has been overwhelming with all the things I need to do. Enough said.

My birthday was Thursday. I went to two different Mexican restaurants. I had a blast. I don't get my b-day presents from my mom and sisters till next weekend:( It's bad because I know it is stitchyt things. DH bought me a purple nano i-pod and an armband to put it in for when I am working out. He is going to load music on it tonight.

Vegas was a blast (need to download and then upload pics - later today or tomorrow). With a longer post about the adventures!

I either had food poisoning or the stomach flu Friday. I began throwing up just after midnight and didn't stop with everything until about 2 PM. My stomach is sore. I lost 6.5 lbs. I am still feeling weak. I am learning more towards food poisoning with how sick I was. I have never been this sick before. DD was scared for me.

I am off to an advent calendar making class this morning. Will post about that later too:)
